Might be a typo judging by the way they have spelt strictly as stricktly, maybe $90 is nearer the mark but I don't mind if this puts the value up, I might sell mine!

$290 seems a quite high, though in-shop price here in the Portland area is regularly in the $150 range and only exceeded by the MX when talking full-mechanical Pentax bodies.

Hey now, it does come with a lens. That has to be worth, what, $15?

It's all about what people are familiar with. Most folks that know anything about Pentax SLR's know the K1000.

Mention the KM, KX, MX or other better less costly Pentax film cameras and you will get a blank stare.

Forget the K1000 and buy one of the other SLR's.

I think that was the new in box original price in the 80s (actually I think it was closer to 200-250?)

At that price some hipster in Park Slope or Williamsburg will probably snap it up.

You occasionally see used film gear being sold by dealers at way over the market price. Sucker born every minute, or so they hope.

Of the models mentioned I believe only the K1000 is Lomography approved.

I paid $229 for mine in 1982-ish, and it came with the 50mm f2, a third-party 70-210, a tiny flash and a bag...

That was a lot of money for me back then...

Paying so much more for a B&H Used product is clearly ridiculous, but it should be noted that you'll basically never have the option to return something you bought on Craigslist.

I donʻt think we can compare a used camera from B&H or KEH that has been checked and tested and in some cases CLA with a 30-180 day return policy and free shipping with private sellers. Certainly almost always the prices will be highest from a large national retailer, but youʻre also paying for a certain amount of confidence that there are no hidden issues.

Also I suspect as the FF K-1 market grows, so will demand and prices for other Pentax FF lenses and cameras like the K1000.
