It is worth mentioning, if you can get the MZ-S with the battery grip, you get to use 4 AA batteries instead of CR-2s.

The MZ-S is a lot of camera in a small body. I compare this to my EOS 1v. With the 43mm, it feels very compact in comparison. I always fidget with the exposure compensation wheel on the back of my canon so my only desire - for when Pentax resumes making film cameras - is to make the exp comp dial easier to play with.

Had both the PZ-1p and MZ-S and kept the PZ-1p. It is the only film body I still use (I have a ZX-5n also). As others have stated, autofocus on the pZ-1p is faster and frame rate is higher. The PZ-1p works well (manual focus of course) with the new 15-30 DFA lens which lacks an aperture ring. The PZ-1p is the camera that really sold me on HyperProgram and the use of the body controls as opposed to adjusting the lens aperture ring which was my old approach. As a result, I now use the P mode and Hyperprogram controls on my digital body.

Thanks guys!

Buying the MZ-S was more than a wimp and repressed desire, I always wanted to get one back then but couldn't afford it. And I love the way it looks.

I think I'm gonna start using my ZX-5 again, and see if 35mm is still useful for me. I would rather use 120, but it's too expensive for everyday use, specially scanning. If I find that is useful, I'm gonna get the MZ-S in a month or two. I just need to get a good lens for my ZX-5, other than super wide angle that I already have.

Thanks again!

My bet would be that someone just lost $27.
I have recently noticed a large amount of camera gear on ebay with insanely low BIN prices. The seller is always in China with a 0 transaction/feedback rating.

I bought and quickly sold a PZ-1P. Any camera that has a 200+ page manual is too complicated for me.
MZ-S controls looks a little more straightforward, but after my PZ-1P experience I'm reluctant to try one.

Did the quick reference card for the PZ-1p not give you enough to go off of? I remember not having to read the manual when it came with that.

I remember not having to read the manual when it came with that.

200 pages of instructions indicates it is far more "capable" than I'll ever need.

I have little patience for multi-mode dials, buttons, LCD displays and menus.
Their cumbersome user interface is but one reason I reject digital cameras.

If I felt that way, I'd probably go get an LX CLA'd.

So many really capable film bodies are available. I bought and sold a MZ-S years ago, and kept other simpler film bodies, but that is what I learned on, too. At the time at least, forget getting it serviced, too. I doubt that has changed. Definitely prioritize glass...

I'd bet he has done.

KM, KX, MX, Nikon F, etc. will all do just fine. LX, MZ-S, PZ-1P, K-3, K-1 are great cameras too, but sometimes simpler is enough.
