I recently bought a k1000 on ebay, it looks like a earlier model and the seller said the door wouldn't shut. Anyone have any experience with this? from the pic it looks like maybe the door is slightly bent. BTW I got it for 45 dollars with a strap and tokina 28mm 2.8

I've had cameras where the door wouldn't close easily, and in both cases it seemed that if you pushed inward on the end of the door when you tried to close it (as if you were trying to squish the door to make it less wide), it would close properly. One of these cameras was serviced by Eric and he fixed the door issue, but I don't know exactly how he did it.

Ok thanks. From the pic he provided it looks possibly bent a little. I will try that

Ok I actually got the camera today and it seems the latch spring is broken. I can get the camera door to shut if I physically lower the latch a little and tap it on a table. Also the light meter is stuck in the middle

. I do have a donor k1000 i can take parts off,, it has fungus in the viewfinder. I originally was going to swap prisms, but I kinda like this old asahi. It will probably boil down to what is the easier fix. Prism swap or door latch/ meter fix.
