It's about $150 ... if it's a Leica without a self timer (170 with, and about 190 if it's a IIIg), 210 to 250 if you need the CLA Done with new curtains.

Pricing from YYeCAMERA, who only specializes in LTM/M mount rangefinders...

Even the cheapest service you quote is nearly double Eric Hendrickson's rate for standard repair, i.e. CLA plus news seals and foam.
I'm sure the charges are even higher for Leica M camera service.

Youxin Ye quoted me $150 to CLA my working Canon P. And he is the least expensive Leica specialist.
All this reminds me again how fortunate we Pentax users are to have Eric Hendrickson!

Here am I laughing, and I imagine other people who haven't stripped down their camera completely before are like :

While I understand and appreciate the whole DIY ethic realize many of us older folks no longer have the work space, fine tools,
dexterity, visual acuity or even the spare time required to work on complicated miniaturized mechanical devices like cameras.

My first job after completing technical school was for Olympus USA in Woodbury NY, where I worked as a camera repair technician.
Though I performed camera repair professionally, now except for the most minor repairs I choose to send my cameras to a specialist.

For Pentax film camera service there's no one more experienced, reliable, fast and inexpensive than Eric Hendrickson.
I know anything sent to him will be returned in good working condition, and will remain so for many years.

I'm only 36, but I too would prefer a specialist depending on the gear, like my Canon 7, if the option existed I would have sent that out since I don't always have the time (or the tools) to do most of the work that would normally be entailed, but I self serviced it out of necessity. It's also the only reason I got the MX I did, since it was serviced by Eric by the previous owner last November, and I was tired of bidding on cameras, and ending up with "Surprise! You gotta fix [insert some not-quite-so-simple problem]", I was tired of surprises, just want something that works as it should.

I don't mind it for fountain pens, or some of the overly simplified stuff with larger parts, since I'm usually tailoring those to personal touch anyways, but finer more complicated mechanics, I want to send those out even if I can't always afford to do so at the time.
