Doctor Who (Original) Season 11 Serial 2 "Invasion of the Dinosaurs" Part 3

Attachment 358679
I dug out my DVD and watched this last night. The wobbly papier-mâché dinosaurs are entertainingly bad!

I'm old enough to remember the Menoptera - which were like they sound - men with wings - or men in bee suits with wings

Jonathan Byers from Stranger Things used an MX (at least, that's what the producers said), it was actually a minor plot point in the first season. Though, a flash and no tripod probably wouldn't be ideal for stealth night photography.

The camera pictured is an ME and the flash is an AF200S. That camera was destroyed by bullies and he received a new ME Super as a gift in the season's last episode. In season 3 he is shown using that camera with a Vivitar 283 attached.

(...previously reported HERE and comments that followed...)

Actually, the ME makes more sense than an MX. The Byers are poor and the MX was expensive. A used ME in the early 1980s fits in. That said, Lynda Ries, the props master, may well have had an MX in the mix for the camera-breaking scene. It required several takes and multiple broken cameras.

Steve

(...loved that show...)

I remember when those episodes were first available we were in the thick of it all and my lady humored me and helped me pause/rewind/pause/rewind to figure out exactly what model it was. Noticed it immediately and couldn't focus on the rest of the show until *that* mystery was solved.

Depends on whether the stealth is still needed after you got the shot

Later in the series they are using a Rolleiflex. Entertainingly, the quiet click of the leaf shutter has been replaced which a much more audible shutter sound.

It seems that every camera I see in a show goes by too fast for me to see what is, except for the Nikons used in CSI 😆. They really like their product placement.

Trying to catch different camera models in TV shows and movies can be a fun game, though perhaps less so for my long-suffering spouse.

Not TV but Radio. I just listened to Chris Evans interviewing David Bailey and there wasn't a single mention of Pentax. Olympus got a mention and his first camera was a Brownie but nothing about Pentax.

Pentax cameras were featured in season 4, episode 6 of The Crown on Netflix. A bunch of press photographers met Prince Charles and Lady Di as they arrived by plane at Alice Springs in Australia.

Yes, everytime paparazzi or "journalists" chase Diana in that series they have Pentaxes.
I spotted a few K1000 and even a LX, but no MX or MEs

I don't know if that qualifies as an endorsement or an indictment.

Pentax! The overwhelming choice of paparazzi everywhere!
