I'm undulating between an MX and LX though read mixed things, sounds very hit or miss in terms of them working!
LX for the system camera features and build, MX for the mechanical simplicity.
I have an ME, great little camera, but the meter can go haywire and as such a bit hard to trust.
MX’s are inexpensive enough that I consider them a must own camera for any Pentax film camera enthusiast. Buy one of the later models that had some design improvements and then send it to a Pentax technician for a CLA.
An LX is a riskier proposition and a lot more expensive. Beware of any LX ‘bargains’ there is usually a reason if the price is below market average. Servicing is expensive and not many technicians want to work with them. Nice cameras however.
