Pentax Winder ILX

Hello all, I have inherited a Pentax Winder ILX , but I don't have an LX, which I believe is the only body it will work on. I have fitted new batteries but the red LED doesn't come on. I assume this is a power LED? Will the LED not work unless it is attached to a body?
Is there no way to test the winder without an LX body? Thanks.

Welcome to the Pentax Forums!

The Winder LX is specific to the LX. I believe the answer to your questions regarding the LED are in the user manual, which is available for free download on the page linked below:

I don't own an LX or the Winder LX, otherwise, I would answer your questions specifically.

The LED flickers when the film is advancing and is constant when the roll is complete.

Thanks for the replies, I guess there is actually no way tell if any of it is working without an LX body.

That is an excellent excuse to get an LX.

Get an LX, and if you don't shoot film, get some. They are wonderful, and you've got the winder.

IMO the Winder LX is nothing to get excited about. I seldom used mine.

OTOH the Winder MX is an absolute must-have for Pentax MX owners.
