Two MXs.
Swap the M 28/2.8 for something better (K 28/3.5, Vivitar 28mm f/2 (either version) or M35/2 if you don't mind losing a little wide angle).
M 50mm 1.4 or 1.7, or 43mm.
Swap the M 135mm for the M 120mm (slightly shorter so leaves less of a gap, a bit faster and a decent bit sharper).

Thanks Jonathan, if I go with the K28/2.8 then I'd have to go with the K50/1.4 for it's 52mm filters. To complete the set I'd need the K135/2.5 - all three together start to get a bit bulky & heavy 🙂

With utmost respect I think you're massively overthinking this

Agreed. The last long trip I went on I only took one camera and lens
We're all different though. In years past I used to overthink and overpack too.

On a trip to the USA last year I brought only a Pentax KX filmcamera fitted with the Cosina Voigtländer Ultron 40/2. One camera one lens. In addition to this I used my iPhone 8 Plus. This was a great travel kit for me. Today I would have replaced the iPhone camera with my recently acquired Ricoh GR II as a supplement to the Pentax KX.

One 35mm film body with a 35mm focal length lens is all I need most of the time.

My two-lens kit adds a short telephoto (portrait) lens, 85 to 100mm.
For travel I might add a 24mm lens, but I find it seldom gets used.

Chris

Back in the day I used to travel with 2 bodies, one equipped with a motor drive and a zoom of 28-80 or thereabouts for the fast action stuff. The zoom body would also be the banger cam for risky stuff. Usually the more expendable camera. The other body would be kitted with either a 135 or a 200 plus a wide angle in the bag plus flash, filters, cable release and mini tripod or bean bag.

I almost never carried a 50mm preferring a zoom to cover that range.
