Question about ZX-L...

I put on the FG battery grip with AA battery's and put in a roll of film, took a shot & it advanced and it show's #2 ready (took a minute to figue out how to set it lol)

So tldr is: After I took a photo, I turned the camera off and it's still showing the "#2" on the lcd.
Is it supposed to stay like that or do I need to take the grip off so it doesnt drain the batterys?

First time using a AF film camera so I know theres a couple things that are gonna be confusing to me

I can't remember what my MZ-M does, but I'd suggest that was normal. AF SLRs were expected to have batteries inserted, especially while there was film in the camera. The additional power drain compared to all the other aspects (AF drive, film transport etc) is minimal (if using AAs it's not expensive).

I'd expect it to remember a film is inserted and the frame count if you took the batteries out, but you're better leaving them in while film is loaded.

yes it displays the number for the frame counter and remains displayed when it is powered off......being lcd it would be minimal drain on the batts....I ferget but it prolly displays as well with the 2- cr5 inserted...….
