I suspect that the "dial" is just a shell slipped on over the real dial for purposes of the photo shoot. The shutter speed dials on the S-series bodies are not very photogenic* to start with and tend to not age well. I don't know what the donor camera might have been, but a bit of felt or foam as a spacer and
voilà, we have a cool looking dial in place of the rather utilitarian original.
