Jumpy meter on the MX

Hi all,

The meter on my MX works well, its accurate and usable, but I find that it is very jumpy in its behavior. For example, even light pressure on the aperture ring or shutter speed can shift it. Is this normal?

No that is not normal. The difference between the green and yellow LED is supposed to be 0.5 EV (1/2 stop).

That is commonly caused by a bit of dirt or corrosion on the aperture wiper in the body or the similar function one connected to the shutter dial. Having both at the same time is unusual but not impossible. Cleaning requires a bit of disassembly.

I'm in the throws of sending one off that's showing a similar (but by the sound of it, less 'advanced') issue.
The meter is a bit jumpy when adjusting shutter speed more than anything else, but when it settles, it settles fine. I'll check in when a repair price has been established to give you a ballpark (though disclaimer: it might not be the same issue).
