Only if you don’t have a white K-01 to match

@Skux they all look great!
You are lucky to have the assortment of bodies to be redressed.

Sorry for taking so long to post the "after" pics. Here is the ME with its new dark green leatherette.

I'd consider installing grippy diamond-pattern rubber covering on my cameras.
IIRC in the 1980's Ritz Camera sold some popular 35mm SLRs with this option.

Doesn't it make them stand out. I have an MX that I darent touch as it is mint, but my S1a, if I ever fix it, would be a candidate.

By all means, put new leatherette on it.

I almost forgot about the old Argus. I acquired it with the replacement leatherette but I like it.

Hello,

Can't believe I missed this thread before!
Many lovely examples here.
Some of you may remember a custom dead Minolta I painted back in 2020. The leatherette was removed and painted with automotive upholstery paint.

and since I had enough paint left I also did this rescued K1000

Finally, this Spotmatic IIa was refinished in similar black upholstery paint because somebody tried to brush paint it green... (UGH!)

Currently exploring alternatives for some non Pentax SLRs in the workbench. Checking out Hugo Studio, Aki Asahi, Camera leather, etc.

Thanks,
Ismael

I remember the Minolta, that was awesome how it turned out.

I have used the Hugo studios and will again. Nice fit and finish.

I got this genuine lizard skin from Camera Leather. I decided to replace all the seals while working on this. Photographed with the K-1 mk ii and FA 43.

Hello,

Turns out nobody makes replacement leatherette kits for Petri V6. So I had to make my own.

You can check the complete story here:
Mild custom 1965 Petri V6: It's a camera, not a car - PentaxForums.com

Thanks,

I happen to really like the different colors and textures that are offered. I for one should look for more cameras that need leatherette replaced. 😁

I'm just going to say that I normally hate the lizard skin covers, but this one looks really nice.

Must be something about the shape of the Minolta... and the fact the body isn't gold

That looks really cool. The FA43 is probably Pentax's sharpest Amigo. I had one at one time.

Honestly I normally hate them too (with the exception of the gold one - I'd take one if someone offered it to me) but I saw a photo of this online and really liked it. Here's another photo to show more detail.

Thanks. The FA 43 is my all-time favorite lens. I don't have the K-1 with me right now so I had to use my D850 and 24-70/2.8 to take the photo above.
