Old School Photography (Kai Wong)

A few days ago I got the book "Old School Photography" by Kai Wong. It is built around one page per topic, like choosing an SLR camera, what film to start with etc. Good casual reading, and for me as mainly digital photographer I need some reminders for analog from time to time.

Currently I am shooting film with the Pentax MX, though I mainly have Spotmatics and M42 lenses for analog.

I think the guy just did a Pentax medium format video too. I saw one of his older video that he said he switch to Pentax. He friend laugh at him and look what happen to his friend's preferable brand now!

-edit-
Just have a look again at his video. At the beginning, his channel's logo looks like an evil blue pac-man about to eat Kai's head

There is no best medium format film camera. The reason there are so many kinds is because each favors one set of attributes over another ( like studio vs field ). You can pick any MF film camera and it will not be as good at something as another will be. In other words, each will have a 'pros' and 'cons' list. It's just a matter of what type of photography you will be doing.

Thanks! I really like the FA Limiteds, especially the 43 and 77. Great build, good image quality with character. Perhaps only the focusing is a bit of compromise between AF and MF. The MX is of course one of Pentax's best K-mount film cameras for the aficionado today. I think only the LX would be up there, but I have not handled it (perhaps for the best!)

The best camera is the one you have with you… or “the one with film in it”…
Since I have plenty to choose from, and I pick based on what I’m doing, that’s even more true

Today, the best camera is the Petri Super 1.9
