Anyone have luck replacing the winding/take-up gears on the K1000?

Was just about to get into using my K1000 again. Got a new lens for it along with some Portra and it seems the gears on the takeup spool are worn.

Is this an easy enough DIY fix?

Service manuals can be found by searching online. These may give you an idea of what is involved.
