When I was younger, I was very disappointed to find out that Asahi beer was not made by the same people who made the cameras...

I had a part-time job in a Sears camera department in the mid-1970s, while an engineering graduate student. Interestingly enough Sears 35mm cameras were made by Ricoh and, back then, Sears sold their rebranded Ricoh cameras and Pentax cameras. The reason I was hired was because I was already shooting with a Pentax Spotmatic F at that time.

Just searching images for "sears roebuck logo' it would appear that logo was used on bicycles, cameras and most prominently the Silverstone electronics product line. Very nice logo, I have never seen it before.

Maybe that, if true, would have explained all my blurry pictures over the years!?

If you look closely, you'll see that's a script S and R side-by-side for Sears-Roebuck from bygone days. That camera looks similar to an old Russian camera I have (Zenit)?????

Blurred AstroDave??? You mean buttery smooth.

Ì think it is an older logo of Sears, Roebuck and Co., referring to the founders of what became Sears department stores. You should read it as ” S R ” , you can recognise the letters in the logo.

The store probably sold both the cameras and ironware (porcelain) under own logo, and many other things ( I found guitars and bikes with the logo...), so it is rather a sellers logo....than a makers logo.

The story

One can try now to find other odd relations to Sears cameras , besides the smooth butter shutter relation starting the thread........

I wonder if any Pentax Forums members live in a Sears kit home?
