I've got a buddy named Darren who does something very similar.
It's called Cerakote coatings.
He's open to custom requests too (located in Edmonton, Alberta):

Hey Chris,
I couldn’t resist it. Thanks for the post. My KX is very scratched up and is a great candidate for a face lift. I also ordered some brown leather from Hugo Studio. I’ll post pictures when I get it done.

I do the work myself, I was a camera repair tech in the early 80's.
