When I see images like this, it makes me miss the hills and mountains. Here in Houston, it is flat as far as the eye can see -- and then some. What a cute looking little shop. Makes me want to go inside just to see how they handled the incline.

First portrait session

My kid had to get dressed up for a piano recital so I took the opportunity to try to get some nice portraits. It was pretty ad-hoc since we needed to get out the door. Critiques would be appreciated; I'd like to get better at portraits.

Geez, hard to choose, murrelet. They all look nice to me. Well, maybe the last one went a bit wonkers with the crop, but still. You got a bunch of keepers, there.

Being a musician myself, I gotta ask: how did the recital go?

Thanks! My Super Program's frame counter doesn't reset properly so I never know when I'm on the last frame. The last one must have been too close to the end of the roll and gave the lab some trouble.

Don't know how the recital went. The teacher let the parents drop the kids off and we took advantage. She has a small house and it would have been too crowded.

Thanks! That means a lot coming from you. I've admired your work on Film Shooters Collective.

I just got my film scans back from the family trip to Mexico. I used the FIND Lab to develop the film using their Basic+ service and I am extremely happy with the results! I'll be posting more over the next couple days. All shots are with either my Olympus XA or Olympus 35 RD, color are on Kodak Ektar 100, black and white is Ilford XP2 Super.

These are all from my 35 RD, on the Ruby Princess at sea in the Sea of Cortez.

No flash. 2 umbrellas with 45W CFLs. They were placed at 8 o'clock and 5 o'clock. Backlight provided by the window behind her; that curtain is fairly thin.
