Vintage m42 K is pure sweetness

I just added a crown jewel to my working m42 collection. Cosmetically, it is close to LN- condition. It has no brassing, scratches or dings. I need to run film to it to find out how good it is mechanically. It has the matched true Zebra that is in as good of condition and works flawlessly.

My joy and jealousy know no bounds.

But in the first photo is that not brassing on the top front edge of the pentaprism?

Congratulations. That is a beauty.

I just spent a day with a meterless Diacord, with excellent results, no meter, and the ES II I had with me ran out of battery right away. So I'm ready to get into the real Pentaxes now.

That is a reflection from the interior lights from behind me. I didn't use the macro flash since I was using the DA 35 and just did the pics hand held. I'll re-shoot these and replace the links later.

I was actually surprised at what good condition the unit and lens is in.

Edit: Here is a better angle without the reflection.

AF sweetness . . .

or Nutrasweet depending on how you look at it. I got this from KEH on Monday. I had sort of been stalking for an MZ-3 since I decided some time ago that the MZ-S was really out of my price range. It is tucked in between the SuperProgram and K2 for size reference.

Here it is with its battery pack next to the K20d behemoth.

I see the MZ-3 needs a stick to keep the K20D at bay...

I just sold my Diacord last year when I was thinning out my film collection. A great sleeper. It was between the Ricoh & my Minolta Autocord..... the Autocord won out, but I do miss my Diacord, especially the unique focusing mechanism.

Beautiful camera! And real nice condition it seems. Too bad you didn't get your hands on a black version, then you would probably be one of the happiest guys on the forum

Keep us posted on how it does mechanically after putting film through it. How does the shutter curtain look btw? does it run smoothly? My Pentax S has a dried curtain (or something like that) so it does not move at slower speeds.

The shutter curtain seems to be in good shape and appears to run smooth. I have no way to check the actual shutter speeds other than taking some images with it.

That K looks terrific! I received one about a month ago...and considering they are over 50 years old it's amazing how modern they are....and how they don't seem to age. I popped a roll of film in it and used my ME Super for metering....and it was a joy to use and worked flawlessly. These cameras were hand made and it shows.
Looking forward to seeing some pics from it.....

Gorgeous K!
I agree: these cameras don't seem to age.
I also like the K2. I'm after one myself.

Thanks,
