P5 Exposure Comp.

If I'm using an M series lens, (In metered manual mode) and wish to compensate for certain conditions, will the camera's exposure compensation function work, or is it only effective with A lenses? The manual states:

"In Metered Manual mode, it is advisable to change the aperture or shutter speed after correct exposure is displayed."

But, it doesn't say it won't work. Any thoughts?

Thanks
