I have to say I thought I was hot shit to get a lightly scratched 55mm Super Takumar f/1.8 for 15 bucks.

You bested me!

That is a great find. It´s a somewhat overlooked lens but I guess you´ve shot some with it tho be able to see the lovely IQ. I really love mine!

...or something that's not even vaguely what was advertised. Drove halfway across town a couple of days ago for what was described as a Samsung / Pentax mount Quantaray 70-300 lens (the Tamron variant based on the filter size listed), which I'd bargained to a very reasonable $30 in good condition.

Except it wasn't a Pentax / Samsung mount when I arrived - the seller just Googled the lens name and cut'n'pasted the description off the first web page they saw. It was actually a Canon mount.

To be fair to the lass, she was very apologetic and clearly knew next to nothing about what she was trying to sell. Still a bit frustrating though.

I too love CL. My best deal (so far) :

Pentax-M 100mm f/2.8, Takumar 55m f/2, Super Takumar 35mm f/3.5, and S-M-C Takumar 150mm f/4 for $95 shipped ($75 for the 100mm, $20 for the Taks, $5 shipping.)

Had original lens hoods and cases, the 35mm f/3.5 looks new and is currently my favorite lens.

Craigslist was how my MX came to me, for $35 if I remember right. How nice to hold something in your hands before you buy it, hand somebody cash, and not wait for shipping. Always bugs me using the ebay/paypal near-monopoly.

Finn, I almost jumped at that ME & M50/1.4 deal myself. (I live in Ames.)

Although I can't afford anything at this time I've been watching the local Craigslist.
Most people here want a ridicules price for their used gear
I saw a K10D for sale today, with around $400.00 worth of lenses and accessories. They were asking for $1400 for it

I'm a total lurker around here, but I HAD to respond to this. YOU'RE the one that took this deal! Man. I was a few hours too late. I shot an email to the seller and then went to the park with the kids. After we got home, I got an email that the gear was still available- I called, and it was sold.
Man, was I sad.
Glad to see it got a good home, though, even if it wasn't mine.

I just got home a couple hours ago with a great Craig’s List purchase. I check often and do not find much Pentax equipment around here and I was surprised to come across this. All for $150.00. The cameras show wear on the outside but the insides are impeccable. All the lenses look brand new and all the glass is spotless.

Kit includes:

Spotmatis SP II
Spotmatic F
Takumar SMC 1:1.4/50mm
Takumar SMC 1:4/50mm macro
Super Takumar 1:3.5/24mm
Takumar SMC 1:3.5/ 135mm
Soligor Auto Zoom 1:4.5 90-230mm
Soligor 1:8 500mm
APS Auto Teleplus 2X
Handsome Carrying Case

Yeah, it really is slim pickings here. Although from time to time I do see something nice I like. I don't think those Takumars are still available, but I almost picked up another 28mm.

But I agree that it's pretty disappointing. Although I came from Mohave Valley, and the pickings were even slimmer there.

What a great buy. The lens caps are selling for $10 each in Europe and I just sold a spare !.4 for just under £80.00 (yes pounds sterling)to Portugal, where there seems to be a massive interest in all things vintage Pentax. Why is that?

Part of the problem is that Portland is a VERY camera-savvy town. The good stuff is traded word of mouth, consigned, or put on eBay.
