Fuji discontinuing films

A package arrived at my office today. To my surprise, inside was a 10 pack of Neopan 400 120, that I ordered months ago. I wonder if it was really discontinued, or did Adorama just find some old stock somewhere.

I believe the expression is "Woot!" Whatever the story is.

I would like that option to remain in existence, ...it's a nice film and I like to sometimes develop 35mm and 120 together. Especially cause I shoot so darn slowly, these days.

I wonder if my friend was right about it being re-formulated

Although you'd hope they'd announce it, if it was.

I thought it was Reala that was to be reformulated. Did I misunderstand?

I've heard that it's both Reala, and Neopan. However, although my friend got his info right from Fuji Canada I don't know how accurate it is. He may, or may not know someone there, he's never told me.

Hrm, well, it still can't be bad news compared to No Neopan 400 in 120 At All.

Film market has shrunk when the digital revoultion took over.
Nowadays everyone see digital cameras everwhere, and while there are still a few "hardcore" film users, I believe the majority here has converted from film to digital. (including yours truly)

I was not surprised Fuji is discontinuing some film models with Kodak probably will be doing the same.

Well, I really think digital's done all the damage it's gonna do, as such: in fact, I think the film market's already hit bottom and bounced: the real issue is 'which films survive in the new market demographic'

The world economy being still in pretty tough shape might well tempt a lot of manufacturers to cut films they might not otherwise be in such a hurry to: how much film is used does have a lot to do with consumer spending and all.

I tend to agree. I'm actually a bit surprised when I walk into the Costco and see how busy the film lab is. They don't sell any film cameras, but they sure do print a lot of film.

i think there is still room for some more contraction in the film market. i would think these types of films would go first:

high speed negative film (portra 800, fuji 1600 stock)
portra 400VC
parts of fuji's e-6 line (they have 4 100 speed films)
black and white films people don't use much (kodak 125)
high speed black and white which has a shorter life span when pushing provides similar results (neopan 1600, 3200tx)
ektachrome probably too

No way! I use this all the time for family snaps. Skin is a bit rosey, but it's very nice. Maybe they should kill the VC line and have a 400 and 800 Ektar fill it's shoes?

As long as Astia stays I'd be OK with that. RVP50, RAP100F, RDP100F, & 400x would be a good lineup IMO.

I like Neopan 1600@1250 better than 400@1250. The 1600 may not offer much more true film speed, but in my very limited experience, the pushed film has pretty poor shadow detail... BUT that 1600 is 2x the price of legacy pro 400, so I end up pushing most of the time anyway.

I would like to see older color films replaced with some newer technology; Maybe Fuji has something planned? Something along the lines of an Ektar 100, 400, 800 would be nice.
