Film camera CLA in Australia?

Calling on all the Aussie Pentaxians out there...

I'm based in Sydney, which means I don't really have access to Eric for CLAs. Where do you guys take your cams for a CLA and how much does it cost?

In particular, I've got a Spotmatic SP with very dubious metering, and a KX just for regular service (the timer spring is getting a bit lose and sometimes the timer doesn't fire).

Thanks in advance.

Send it to Eric

Eric accepts repairs from all over the world. I've sent my Super A to him to repair and had no problems at all.

His prices are very reasonable and his work is top-shelf

But if you really don't want to send it overseas you could try Max Dellaway here in Perth. He will fix any brand but specialises in Pentax. He's done work for me, his charges are very reasonable and he does good work. It's worth giving him a call first to make sure he can fix your Spottie. Not sure if I should put his number in the thread so PM me if you want his number

John at Shutterbox (Shutter-Box Camera Repairs) is Pentax trained and has reasonable rates. I don't know if he accepts work by mail but there is no harm in asking.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. Yeah, I would prefer someone local in Sydney, so I don't have to ship in the item. Does anyone happen to know someone in Sydney?

Thanks again.

No, not in Sydney, and I too don't like shipping, but I was forced into doing it in order to give this guy a go, and he is good, reasonably priced, and very professional.

He fixed up my "dead" Minolta AL, and I couldn't be more satisfied.

So, "buy Australian", and give Ben Vang a go (see link):

Camera Check Point photographic equipment services

BTW, I'm intending to send him some more of my "patients", very soon.

For some reason I've had these guys bookedmarked, but I haven't used them so YMMV: Digital Camera Repairs - Camera Service Centre
They're right in the Sydney CBD too.

Thanks for the link. I've asked for an estimate for a KX CLA at both the places mentioned. Unfortunately they're both in excess of $200, which is more than I can allocate money for at this stage. It's nice that Eric charges US$69 (or something like that).

Thanks for all your contributions so far guys.

BUMP, many years on but in 2022 where do folks go to for Australian CLA in different states?
Good to keep a relevant list of these things for convenience and posterity
