I have kicked off a new project at work which has consumed the last 4 weeks or so of my time, should be able to get back to it later this week. I have enough info on at least another 4 screwmounts. I'll touch base as soon as I send them to you....

I have a couple of screwmount bodies here:

1) PENTAX S1a No.642761




2) Pentax SV No.865688




3) Pentax SV No.1910892






Notice, that the earlier SV has engraved "No." with the serial number, also has S1a.
Both SV have the red R marker.
All three cameras work with the light meter.




4) PENTAX SPOTMATIC black No.2340500






5) PENTAX ESII chrome No.6681911, unfortunately not in working order: the mirror hangs, and one has to unscrew the bottom plate to reset, I would call this a double screw mount camera






6) PENTAX ESII black No.6692023






The coating of the SPOTMATIC looks tarnished, whereas the black ESII looks pretty glossy. Did they use different lacquer over the course of time?

I have two Pentax Spotmatic F bodies.

First was my father's. Purchased new in late 1973 in downtown Vancouver someplace. Serial #4606990.

Second I purchased off eBay. Unknown history, but in good shape with all manuals, case, etc. Serial #4624036.

Just to confuse the issue, I have a hybrid early/late Spotmatic.

It looks like a later model; lower profile film counter, top plate attachment method, self timer lever, meter switch and (the icing on the cake) 23102 stamped on the baseplate.

However, the serial number is 1443403 (stamped in the earlier font) and there's no roller inside the film door - as per the early version.

Which I guess means mine was made around the time of the changes from whatever bits were laid to hand...

My Spotmatic is serial #2491034 and has 23102 on the baseplate, but, oddly, it lacks the roller on the film door. In all respects it is identical to yours except the mounting holes on the self timer are reversed.

The data table for the ESII is in error regarding date introduced (should be 1973 not 1975) and discontinued (should be 1975). Also, we appear to miss some special models (like ESII Data II) or is the attached list incorrect? Perhaps these models did ot exist?

I have started uploading to the site, begining from the most recent (ESII). I'm fixing any discrepancies I find as I go.
