About the asahiflex

Hello everyone, I'm here again with two questions about the older pentax cameras. This time is about the Asahiflex.
The first is about the mount, is there adapters for them to m42 screwmount?
The other one is how much would you think is a fair price for an asahiflex? I'm eyeing one at the auctions but I know it will get out of my range pretty soon.

Asahi Pentax made adapters from M37 to M42 in the late 50's and early 60's. I'm happy to own one of those very rare adapters. I also have a few copies machined in Hong Kong (I'm from Europe myself) and if you are interested in one for 18 euros (shipping included...) then please let me know. However, none of these adapters allow infinity.

I have all Asahiflexes (even the first one) but I would not recommend one for daily shooting. The shutters are usually way off/non functioning. It's also very hard to focus on the ground glass screen. If it's for collecting purposes only, then US$200 looks like a fair/good price.

Asahiflex is the man around here on the Asahiflex bodies!

There was some of the last run of the IIA that came out with m42 mounts but are rather tough to come by. I saw one and let it get away before I realized just how tough. That said, as Asahiflex pointed out, 99% or greater are the m37 mount.

AS far as prices go, they are going to be all over the map from ~ $100 for a parts camera but typically are $175 to $800 to show the extremes. Averages are probably between $225-350. Many of them need at least a cla. (They are after all 53+ year old bodies.)

M37 Lenses are considerably harder to come by than the m42 Takumars.

@asahiflex: Thanks, I thought I had read your username before. But didn't connect one fact to the other. :P To need a m37 adapter I would need a lens before. I really like the preset lenses and I'm always on the search of them. Would really like to try one of these sometime. If I ever come across one, I'll ask if you still have the spare adaptor.

Yeah, I've seen some bodies around and they are going for around $400. This one in particular is now at $65 so it's already out of league.

Here's the link if anyone wants to try a bid.
?167?????????????? 1?2.4 ??58?? - Yahoo!??????

I think I should post it in the price watch, but I think not too many people see it or are aware of the fact it exists. It's a little too hidden.
