Asahi Pentax Meter on S1a

Hi all, first post...

I acquired an S1a (and a Super A) from my grandparents, which came with the clip on Asahi Pentax Meter. The light meter battery was dead when I got it, and there was a bit of what looked like leaky battery gunge around that area. It's all cleaned up now, and I have soldered new battery connections in, where it had corroded. I put the new battery in, and now there is life

Problem is... how do I read it, and what do the letters B, H, and L stand for? I worked out the "off" bit by myself I am guessing it is to do with high and low light levels as to which one you use? If that's right then what is B?

Thanks for any help...

Tom

Thanks for that link. That is a slightly different meter - mine also has a green B setting on it, that isn't explained. What does that mean?

It may be a slightly different model but I think it works the same way. The "B" setting is for the battery. To test it. The H is for bright light metering (sunny days etc) and the L setting is for indoors and lower light settings.

You have to make sure you turn off the meter when not in use (it's not automatic) and the battery button was to test the meter and make sure the battery was still good.

OK, thank you, that clears it up. The battery is new, and the needle points to the green line when it's set to B which is good. Thanks again
