I don't have the Tak, but the SMC K 135/2.5 is one of the finest lenses I have used. If the Tak is the same formula (6-6), and you don't mind the extra weight, go for it. Among the other benefits, the 2.5 aperture is one of the easiest lenses you will ever focus, even on a pentamirror camera.

If it can be useful. Here is a link to a comparative test of 135mm lenses (including the 4 135mm takumar) I've done some times ago. There are 100% crops

That's a nice little comparison. The SMC 2.5 V2 shines, especially at wider apertures, but I am really surprised to see that a close second (to my eyes) is the DA50-200. I wonder if some of these film designs just work better than others on a DSLR.

I had an opportunity to work with the preset takumar 135 3.5 this weekend at Deception Pass State Park on Widbey Island, WA. A last minute, end of summer camping trip with friends and my family... The photos below are of the Puget Sound coast and were taken on a tripod within minutes before and after sunset. This is a nice lens and a lot of fun to explore and use.

Beautiful photos from Deception Pass! I know the area well and it is always a pleasure to be reminded of its natural beauty.

BTW...has anyone managed to figure out why this thread is still located in the "Pentax Film SLR" section? It probably would have attracted more discussion if it had been moved to the lens section.

Steve,

Thanks for the kind words. The park and all of the sound are a place to see.

I pointed my camera in the other direction from the sun shortly after dusk and I imagine this is a familiar site to you.

Steve
