There is quite a family resemblance between Pentax models, so you can get a manual for the Spotmatic, and the supplement for the F meter at:
Pentax Manuals
The K1000 manual should give a good start to working on the KX as well.

You might want to make a new post in the Pentax lens section of this site or in the section for technical troubleshooting. Doing so will expose your problem to a wider range of readers.

Many of us here owe a great debt to expert repairman Eric Hendickson, who keeps our Pentax cameras humming along.

Eric has repaired/CLA'ed most of my Pentax cameras past and present, currently including LX, K2, KX, KM and MX bodies.
I'm planning to send him two more recent acquisitions, a DOA MZ-3 and another KX, this one with a shutter problem.

What have you had repaired by Eric Hendrickson?

Chris
I'm new here and my Pentax sf1 seems like the shutter is stuck and the film won't advance.
It is making noises like it is trying to go but it's stuck? Thanks Billa

The best repair technician for pentax cameras. All the information is on his site. His name is Eric Hendrickson and that's what this forum is about.

No update yesterday, but this morning, it went back to Knoxville, TN. These people are imbeciles. Worst part is you can't call anyone at the sort facility and no one is held accountable or responsible. Gotta love when the two-day service takes at least eight.

I have two more bodies to send to him, I'm just hoping the post office can get them there and back before I move out of the state in May.
Lately, I too have been having the same problem with package deliveries. The packages seem to travel through every city and town in the state of Florida before finally arriving here. I've found that notifying my local post office will sometimes help get things sorted out quicker as they will email the sorting facility and try to get things straightened out.

Any delay or a change of orders means he will miss his package.
Unless he's paying a premium to use Express Mail delivery time is not guaranteed.

USPS Priority Mail is usually delivered in 2-4 days depending on destination yet often costs less than competitors ground service.

I'm not a service member and have used USPS' services thousands of times yet only recently, packages have been reaching Jacksonville, Fl. and then instead of coming to my town as they normally do, the packages are either being sent out for delivery there in Jacksonville or being sent off to other places that are hundreds of miles from where I'm located. Because of that, I sometimes wait ten or more days for a 2-4 day delivery. In every instance, the address on the package ends up being correct. I thought it might be possible that jtkratzer is experiencing the same.

Thank you for your service,jtkratzer.

To avoid this problem in future suggest you ask to see the postmaster at the station.
Bring documentation, e.g. printouts of the tracking history for the misrouted packages.

Chris

Just had another Pentax MX serviced by Eric. Superb job yet again. This MX needed some adjustments to the meter and shutter speeds, as well as a mirror replacement. Good for another 40 years, I'd say!

Would you mind sharing what it cost? Just to have a ball park idea. I realize that my camera would probably need different adjustments.

It seems that most of you are living in the US, is there someone who has send his Pentax from Europe to Eric? I'd really like to get my MX fixed but I'm a bit afraid of the shipping cost, maybe taxes and the time it will take...

In the UK there are a pair of specialists that work on Pentaxes, CLA for MXs is about £75.
