Black asahiflex?

I found this interesting, a black asahiflex at a ridiculously expensive (for me) price. I know that this are rare as they go, but would they fetch that price?

Its a IIA which could bring $350-$450 if it is in as good a mechanical condition as it in cosmetic condition. The black version could add another $200 with another $150 for rareness. I could see it bringing $800. I have heard of black Asahiflex bodies.

Edit: I just looked at my notes and I had made an entry for an IIA with a black face.

Based on the current currency exchange, it is at $1484.

Here it is through google translate.

I would be more skeptical than I am if it wasn't for the Repronars that had the black Asahiflex bodies. Plus, I have seen an Asahiflex with a black mirror cage. I'd love to at least examine this thing in person!

In the translation, it almost sounded as if the camera was painted black as part of a restoration that included new leather.

Steve

good catch. I don't get the 'insect' part. Something got lost in translation. Based on the bidding on this thing, I'd say a bunch of people have missed that detail.

I think I would be a little disappointed if I paid $2k for a black Asahiflex to find out it had been painted black during a restoration. Then again, if I had the many for such a body, I would have to inspect it in person before laying down the cabbage.

No one bid on it so apparently people figured out it was a faux black body.
