Winders for MX an ME Super

Hi, I have MX and ME Super, and I was wondering if I can use only one winder for both cameras. If anyone has an idea, please let me know.
Thanks,
Sam

Bojidar Dimitrov's Pentax K-Mount Page is your best friend for this type of question. Here is a link to his page with the model/drive compatibility matrix:
Pentax Winders and Motor Drives

Steve

P.S. The short answer to your question is that the MX had its own winder and motor drive that were unique to that model. Sorry

I'm sorry, I should have looked there first. But, I guess, I wrote first, thought later.

I should probably leave Bojidar a note. I believe he has the dates wrong for most of the winders/drives. I am pretty sure that I handled both MX and ME Super cameras with winders in 1982 when I was in the market to buy.

In 1982 I was taking bogus photos of my sister with my Grandfathers Zorki-2, that disappeared, and now is, apparently, a very sought after camera.
And Pentaxes were only a dream.

Are you the Fedya that sells FSU cameras? There is an online seller that uses that name.

No, I am not. Fedya is rather common name, like Ted in English. My Fedya is derived from my last name.

No, the winders are incompatible. The Winder ME II is common and not expensive. The Winder MX is a little harder to find but not too bad. The MX winder is prone to problems with the battery door breaking.

Both winders get the job done, but are not terribly fast. They do improve handling with large lenses.

There was also a motor drive for the MX, but you don't see those too often.

Check out KEH.com to give you an idea of prices.

Thank you very much for all the answers. I guess I will have to get two winders, but that's ok, since then I won't have to keep taking it off. I guess, I didn't think of convenience, when I thought of costs.

You might want to check the foam seals which hold the batteries in place if you get an MX Winder. They turn to goo over the years. Mine did and had to be replaced. Check before you buy.

The one I am planning to purchase is rated BGN at KEH, so it is what it is

I think you will find, as I did, that the winder completes the MX package and makes for a perfect fit. My MX seems incomplete without it.

It does feel rather small. I had similar situation with Canon Rebel 2000, that felt weird, but after I purchased the battery pack, it feels like a million bucks.
