Spotmatic motordrive...in the flesh!

Today, I saw a very special piece of "Equipment". A, what looked like to me, brand new, boxed, Spotmatic Motordrive set. An amazing bit of gear, motordrive unit, handle/"grip", battery (no good, but apparently can be replaced) battery charger, a little volt meter with Asahi Pentax written on it.....can't remember what else....except two different sets of instructions. No good for me, as you'd need a "special" Spotmatic to use it.
If you're interested, PM me, & I'll tell you how to contact the owner....I think he wants around $650 for it......not bad, as I saw one on Ebay for over twice that.!. Something like this should go to a good home.
Cheers, Pickles.

Photos of it would be a nice addition to our upcoming screwmount database Someone from PF should definitely buy it!

If I'm right, the Motordrive system on Ebay has the body. But this is a bit expensive for something I wouldn't use :P

C'Mon...New in a box.....you know you want it......the motordrive unit itself still had the plastic coating on the top & bottom faces.
Cheers, Pickles.

Someone should pick it up.....as Adam mentioned, we need a pic for the screwmount database . If it really is in new shape, it is quite the find.

I would but I already have the SPF version.....a little eye candy to get someone interested.....

I own the similar K2DMD unit. It too looks quite impressive, but its performance is anemic.

Older Pentax motor drive cameras are rare because they didn't sell well.
While Nikon and Canon offered five frames per second and up with their professional models,
the Pentax motor drive cameras operated at around 2 fps maximum.
Heck, a $99 AE-1 winder operated at 2 fps.

Pentax did not offer a "real" motor drive until the MX system.

Next you will be telling us that you don't care about the appropriate matching shade for your lenses.

That's almost true about bodies : The only one that I bought without any lens had been a mistake (paid too much for that). I have a SPIIa, a black K, an ElectroSpotmatic, but I would not bought them if they were not sold with lenses I sold
