Pentax AF Bodies and Lens Compatibility

Quick questions about compatibility of a couple of AF bodies and

ZX-L - is this compatible with "crippled" A lenses - that is lenses that have no aperture ring at all and are by definition set to "A"? Good example: Sigma 24-60mm f/2.8.

I have to believe that the answer is "Yes," but I don't want any surprises.

*ist (35mm) - Same question... I know this has a "crippled" KAF mount... and will not work on lenses that do not have an "A" setting at all. But the question is are these crippled lenses game or not with this body?

Thanks in advance.

woof!

ZX-L I think is, though just to be sure I'll check tonight at home. I have the distinct impression I've used both a DA 70 and a 16-45 with it. You can set aperture from the body.

Yes, I checked flickr, and I have photos with both lenses on a ZX-L

Yes, both the ZX-L and *ist bodies will work with lenses with no aperture ring. The ZX-L will also work with M and K lenses in aperture priority mode.

The zx6/l and 7 are the kings of compatibility

This includes the apreture-free lenses

Also the PZ-70 and PZ-1, that I know of. They take any and all comers.
And the *ist can use screwmount lenses, if the right setting is enabled. But no K or M lenses.

The ZX-7 IS NOT a crippled body. Also I believe one of the major differences between the l/6 and 7 is that the 6/L can used lenses without a aperture ring, the 7 still needs an aperture ring.

... though with the Kings of Compatibility, there are, as noted two varieties: those models that can set aperture in body, and those that can't. The ones that can't will work in Program mode with aperture-ring-less lenses (ZX-10 and Program Plus are two such).

So would the models that can deal with anything but K and M lenses be Queens of Compatibility? :P

ZX-7 CAN use lenses without aperture rings in all modes. The ZX-5 is limited to P and Tv modes, as is the Super Program, MZ-S and P30t among bodies I have tried.

I think it might be handy to post this as a sticky as this question come up often and it is a very handy chart.
The Pentax Camera Lens Compatibility Chart

P.S. Thanks very much for whoever made the chart and I hope it is ok to suggest using it as a sticky here.
