One of these sold recently for 6,638USD on eBay in a Buy-it-Now sale.

I like it, I think it's pretty, but unless I was super-wealthy I'd never use it.

The gold LX always struck me as an ugly beast, I'd much rather have the LX 2000...

I've always preferred silver myself, which was good for my budget until I discovered the limiteds.

I don't deny that it's a great piece of workmanship, but I have other uses for the kind of money. Like the K5 kit and maybe 2 or 3 other lenses.

Me too. Too bad the LX2000 is so expensive!
Fortunately the black ones work just as well...

said i want one - didn't say i would buy one =) well not unless i saw it for vastly less than it was worth and even then unless was about the price of a normal lx would sell it on and buy a k5 instead

There are some things in this world which I thank the Gods for *not* wanting. And considering there's an LX under that plating, I'm doubly-glad to not want that.

(Kind of abominable, though, isn't it? A Pentax is supposed to be like the antithesis of cheap gold plating and lizard-skin wallets, isn't it? It's like, 'This may be the best-put-together camera ever, let's make it look like a pimp's ciggy case!' Pentax *may* in fact have had some kind of damage from all that Beatles exposure, is a theory I'll entertain. Kind of like how when the Beatles came to America and everyone female and under 30 was shrieking horribly cause someone sang 'I Wanna Hold Your Hand...?' Well. This may not have called for Pentax to catch onto lounge-lizardness in 1981. )

Speaking of 1981:

Pardon the ranteyness, there, but there's something *deeply* not OK like that. It's like if someone went to Bentley and said, 'I want it chrome plated' and they said, 'How much will you pay for our dignity?'
