Another MX is Reborn

After seeing this post I was inspired to recover my MX. It really did not need a new leatherette, but black is boring. It still needs the foam replaced, the mirror bumper is scaring me to the point that I stopped using the camera. I was also going to touch up the paint on the film door, but the excitement of finally receiving the leatherette overtook me. Black gloss spray paint was also not on hand last night. Anyway, it is the vintage 'Teal Crinkle' leatherette from here.

This is how dark the teal gets in dim lighting...

The pictures are not the best, but considering the lighting, my Dad's Canon P+S did a fine job...

Cool! Perhaps needless to say, but I approve
What does the Teal Crinkle feel like in the hand?

You did a great job with that. I am going to try this with one of my MEs that is losing its black skin. It is going to be hard to decide on a color.

We can make a "pimped MX group"

Sounds like a great idea. I'm tempted to do up another MX now too

Original Poster
I was considering a recovered MX group as it is becoming rather popular, or maybe just a recovered camera group. The Teal Crinkle feels like a much smoother version of the stock cover. The old cover felt like medium-grit sandpaper compared to the new one.

You are at the birth of all of this
I have even ordered a blue strap from Couch Guitar Strap to go with the blue leather.

I was inspired by these posts and recovered my old ME which has been missing its coat for over 20 years. I chose green because it is my grandson's favorite color. It has really made a difference in the appearance of this old workhorse.

Thanks for the link to buy the skin. It was not a difficult operation to install it.

I was just browsing this thread, I have a few lenses that need re-covered focus rings, and I saw couch guitar. I don't play, but a friend of mine has a couch on his bass. It's a nice strap. you'll have to let me know how the camera strap is, I was considering one for my new(ish) KX.

I was considering posting a full review next year as I don't have much time to get out and take pictures now. For now, i can say that they have a good finish. Regarding the comfort, I can really give an opinion, I have been using it only a few times and over a winter coat. Btw, the strap is fairly wide which is a good point. I'll try to poke you when I post the review

Edit: what about a 1st pic?
