I have two. One original Japan made Asahi metal top K1000 and one new Chinese made (under Pentax oversight) plastic top. Both are great cameras, the former being the better of the two.

Yup. Had 2 at one time, plus a KM. Sold one of the K1000s.

Yep, I have two of them and use them quite a bit. One has black and white film and the other color. I go through about a roll a week, sometimes two. I also have an ME super, that I just passed on to my son....

Gotta love that match needle metering

I bought mine about 2 years ago at a thrift store in A++ condition with case and the 28mm SMC M f3.5 lens. The first time I developed film using the 28mm I was blown away by the superb results. I really like the old match meter system. Guess that is why I also covet my Nikon F2.

I don't use the k1000 that much anymore btw.
I've become a bit lazy, so mostly I use either the K2 or the LX on automatic.

Getting my first camera back!

My 7 yr old daughter just asked "Dad, what was your first camera?" Well, in truth, that was a Kodak Instamatic. But my first "real camera" was a K1000. Then, I remembered that I had given it to a friend.

I contacted him, and he's still using it! He did agree to send it back to me, though, in exchange for a little Ricoh RF that I can send to him.

So, my daughter will get to use my first real camera! I can't wait to explain shutter speeds and f-stops to her.

Got rid of mine when I purchased my first *istDs. I purchased it in a pawn shop in Virginia Beach when visiting my daughter. My MX had to go to the shop because it ran through metering batteries way too quickly. Didn't want to be without a camera, so picked this one up.

Still have that MX, but decided I no longer needed the K1000 with the Ds. Now, with two Ds bodies, a K100D body, and a K20D body, I don't need the MX, but have the most difficult time letting it go. After 32 years, it is too much a part of the family.

It probably would have been easier to ask, "who doesn't have one?" than who does. I have 2, both bought new. This is a long running thread. I wonder if it will run as long as the k1000?

I have three.

Body one, I found while working at a hotel. It went unclaimed, and became mine after three months.

I dropped it and the shutter locked. It sat unused for close to ten years

Body two was bought last year on ebay. Chinese model. Has some crud in the view finder.

Body Three was also bought through ebay. Japanese ( I think), Awsome shape, super clean.

So then I figured, why not try an fix body one? After a little google-fu, found a repair manual. Opened the base plate. Push lever "A" back to location "B" and fixed it!

My inner pack rat is not letting me sell them. What if one day i need to shoot B&W, Colour, and slide? Pack rat says "must keep".

Got another one

I had one back inte 80's. Then went digital P&S. When I started using digital SLRs, I found I missed the 1000, so found one on fleabay. Very used but fully functional. A previous poster said he used it now for astrophotography - must get it out again and start exprimenting

I got mine back, and it feels just as good in my hand today as it first did ~32 years ago! So good, in fact, that I shipped it off to Eric Hendrickson for a going-over! Can't wait to get it back.
