Yep, I've got one too... so does my mom... so does one of my sisters... another of my sisters has two of 'em.

That's right, FIVE K1000s within the immediate family. No longer all under one roof though...

Damn fine camera, it's never let me down. It has a place in my bag next to my LX.

I've just joined this club An old k1000...a lot heavier than I expected it to be. Loaded up some film today for the first time in years and can't wait till I get a chance to go out and take some shots with it. It really feels like "photography".

Bought mine in 1976. Still have it. Still use it. Got it with my very first paycheck. Still looks and works good. Serviced once. Still love it.

Love the K1000. My first SLR, learned a lot with it, still have it for nostalgia. After buying a digital camera I have sold the other 2 K1000s I acquired along the way. Will try it for winter shooting, as someone here mentioned - the batteries in the DSLR go flat so fast in cold weather.

So, the K-1000 arrived intact then? Glad to hear it, and I hope you get plenty of enjoyment out of it!

Yep. The box looked like it went through a warzone but the camera arrived fine. Thanks!

Hah! Even if you just slapped a label on the back cover and shipped it without a box, it'd have probably made it alright.

I dropped my camera bag off about a 10' rock ledge once (not intentionally). A UV filter on it was busted all to hell, but body and lens made it through alright.

I came across an eBay auction years ago where somebody was selling a K1000 with a dented prism cover - somebody tried to mug him so he used the camera as a weapon. The mugger apologized, handed the wallet back and ran. The camera continued to function just fine.

I dug my K1000 out the other day and went wandering around downtown and midtown Atlanta with it. Took a lot of pics at the aquarium, really felt weird looking around and realizing I'm the only person with a film camera, much less one totally mechanical.
