Gotta luv those K1000's...I have read stories of people dropping them into lakes, falling of bikes, and so forth and they keep on ticking...How cool is that.

I have two. One is Chinese - late vintage. I got it second hand in high school from my parents, who used it and its predecessor (stolen in '88) to document my childhood.

I picked up an Asahi model a couple of years ago with a 135/2.5 super cheap on fleaBay.

The MX is a great camera- it has the larger viewfinder of all 35mm Pentax SLRs

It's definitely not something you want to sell!
My preference is for the KX. I like the double needles in the viewfinder and the periscope for the aperture ring better than the LEDs in the MX.

I have one, I got it with a 50mm f2, a Zeiss Biotar 58mm screwmount, Pentax M43 bellows and a slide dupe. Gave the camera and the 50 to my mum, kept the rest to use with my Spotmatic and my k10d.

My dad gave me his old k1000 when I was first getting into photography, it was my first SLR and I never plan on parting with it. It's 30 years old and still works like new.

I have two. They are both over 25 years old and work perfectly. In fact, I'll be using one of them today.

Just got mine. Honestly I never understood why people liked this cam so much until I held it in my own hands... It's so utilitarian that it's actually beautiful I do prefer the shape of K series to the M now that I've actually tried it. Too bad only the K2 has the Av mode. Unfortunately this one has a bit of a temper. My film was stuck midway and after click / wind 3 times, wasting one exposure (the winder didnt move during this), the cam works fine again. We'll see how it all turns out sooner or later.

So has my wife. In fact, she has an attachment to it so I sent it to Eric this summer for a CLA and new screen. I actually had one from the early 80s but replaced it with a Spot F and K2.

I have owned my K1K for 21 years now. Just got it CLA at my local shop, good as new. Gotta admit it has taken a back seat with the new aquisition of a black ME Super, but she is still my baby

I got my K1000 when I didn't know the difference between K-mounts and M42 cameras. It was $10, and missing the rubber focus ring and coated with about 1/4 inch of dust everywhere. Luckily the original lens cap was installed before the dust shower came, and the back had never been opened, so it cleaned up well and now rides in the car with 400 print film for "just-in-case" shots when I don't have any other camera on me.
