Found on a Japanese webpage: K2DMD in *chrome*!

Until today I had never seen a chrome Pentax K2DMD body.
It must be fairly rare because only black is listed on the Dimitrov website.
Perhaps it was sold only in Japan? Sure wish I could lay my hands on one...

The picture does look legit.... I don't think it's like the gold K1000 we saw a while back (as you'll remember).

Just for fun: Link: Google Translate version of http://61174813.at.webry.info/200706/article_4.html

FWIW Yahoo/Babelfish did even worse. Can anyone here translate Japanese better than an insane computer?

Chris

Nor did I. I have a chrome K2 but thought all the K2DMDs were issued in black only.

Phil - you will have to get one of these to complete your collection.

Looks like the person behind the web page believe that it was not sold in Japan, only overseas!

Ive seen the original webpage and that camera before. (along withs its black painted buddies) though I wasn’t aware that the chrome version was that rare. its too bad we don’t have a reference for kmount cameras and lenses that is as good as the screwmount bible.

Yeah nothing in printed form, just the "K-mount" web site. Which is missing the chrome K2DMD.

Welcome to Bojidar Dimitrov's Pentax K-Mount Page

Better late than never, I hope. A friend in Tokyo did a fast and rough translation:

The author writes he already had three black DMD's when he bought this chrome body at JPY 48.000 from Map Camera Shinjuku.

The camera had several problems: 1) Transport lever cracked, 2) missing plastic piece under the transport lever, 3) plastic part of ASA dial missing, 4) fault in electric terminal of the data back, 5) problem with the eyepiece, 6) a motor drive did not work on this body.

In the process the mirror wouldn't come down anymore. He sent the camera four times to a repairer in Kagoshima (farthest prefecture south in Kyushu). After sacrifying another body for the parts he ended up with a working chrome DMD.

Hilo -thanks for the translation. I have a black one and I wouldn't have believed these even existed.
