Hmm I did not know of the XR-P, that one seems to go for just as cheap...damn :-/ haha....

Am I missing much? Besides auto modes, everything else is just as good?
They are both good cameras.

To use Sv and program modes on an XR-P, you need a lens with a "Ricoh pin"; lenses with the Ricoh pin can wreck a Pentax DSLR. So... I think an XR-7 will do you just fine.

(I am 99% sure this is right, but I've never had an XR-P, so if I am wrong, sorry!)

This sounds right. I think that Hin has an XR-P. Perhaps he will weigh in on this discussion.

Well its on its way, came with a official M42 adapter(been meaning to pick that up anyways) and a Mamiya-Sekor 1:1.8 f=55mm for 37+13 shipping, Hope its good :-).

How is this lens, never heard of the brand honestly...
Hadn't thought of Mamiya-Sekor for a long time. They were well known 40 years ago, though. The slang term for them was Mammary Sucker.

Ummm...they still are well-know...in professional circles. In fact, they still make excellent high end medium format cameras under the Mamiya name.

Hmm I see, I must admit I have never used a medium format, I plan on it in the future when I can afford it plus a couple decent lenses though.

The Bottom Line

Eric Hendrickson specializes in Pentax. IMO that alone makes all other brands also rans...

I guess you service what you know. Mark Hama (also an excellent camera tech) once built and now specializes in Yashica. One of our local repair guys here in Portland used to build and specializes in Mamiya.

Eric will service non-Pentax. Mark is considered a good resource for Canon rangefinders and our local guy will repair pretty much anything you bring in.

I just got the camera, having an odd problem though, I fired off the shutter and it went, I tried it again and the mirror is stuck to the top now....yeah :-/

Batteries are fine, self timer works, red blinking and everything...Just wont take a photo...

Edit: Alright I noticed the top near the focus screen is all black goo, I kinda removed it with a Microfiber Cleaning Cloth but that did not seem to help sadly...

Still doubtless a sticky-mirror-foam issue, there.

Hmm? Yeah I am pretty sure its just old corroded mirror foam...yet I cleaned it out and it still will not move... :-/

I can move the mirror manually down fine but it wont click back down :-/

It will not advance the film also...

I don't know exactly how the film advance relates, but the rest of it is clearly dissolving foam and light seals. The film may not be advancing because of the mirror not returning. A Contax my wife owns completely jammed up when the mirror foam struck.

Battery???

The shutter mechanism is completely dependent on small electromagnets.
