Difference between SMC 85mm Screwmount & K mount versions

So I've been looking for a Super Takumar 85mm 1.8 or 1.9 for a while now (within my price range) and I just happened to stumble across an SMC K mount version, the 1.8 version.

I was wondering, what if any (aside from the mount) is the difference between the two? I'm going to be using it on my Canon 60D (am I allowed to say that here? ) So before I spend the money I really want to know if it'll work and is of the same great quality.

Thanks!!

Check out the lens review section, it lists all the differences.

85mm 1.8

I own the super takumar smc 85mm 1.8 m42 mount, Best portrait lens I have, always wanted the k-mount for ease of use eg, no more stop down metering

So getting the K mount version (especially for my Canon 60D) would be a good idea

While I'm sure M42 lenses work very nicely with Canon bodies, I'm not so sure about the K mount. Make sure you have someone to confirm that K mount can be slotted into your Canon without loosing infinity focus.

Well I see Pentax-K to EOS adapters on Ebay. However I DO have a n00b question. Since the lens is a MF lens, I don't really need to get one with the autofocus confirm do I?

It's not autofocus confirm it's "focus confirm" a feature that is very helpful for MF lenses users which is built-in all Pentax DLSR bodies. What it does is it tells you when the subject is in focus.

While it's not mandatory, it's certainly a big help.

ah.. ok..... thanks. Makes sense to spend a little extra and get the focus confirm adapters then.

Thanks!
