Got a K1000, what lens can I use?

I got a K1000 film camera.
I am going to buy some lens for it.

Is F lens working on film camera? (I know autofocus will not be working)
It's kind of hard to search "A", "F" on the search engine.

Do A,F,FA all work on the K1000?
I know M will work.

Yes, all of those lenses will be fine on the K1000. As long as it has an aperture ring, it will work.

Sort of. If it doesn't cover FF there will be somewhat extreme vignetting. It will, mechanically, mount, but the pictures will look more like something from a Lomo than from a K1000.

All of the lenses he mentioned-- A, F, FA-- will cover full frame. DA could be a problem. Many don't cover full frame and many don't have aperture rings.

Thanks, that's what I want know.
I heard DA will have the lomo feels.
Is it true that the camera will use DA lens in minimum Aperture(ie F22) ?

You can also use even older Takumar M42 screw mount lenses with an adapter.

I don't know about the lomo feeling. Some of the DA lenses will cover full frame, depending upon the aperture, and the ones that won't often just darken the corners a bit. The DA 15 and some of the zooms will put an interesting little fisheye circle on the film--but without the fisheye distortion. I've had a good deal of fun with the DA lenses on bodies of a later design than the K1000.

The big problem is the aperture. Yes, they just close down on older bodies. To use a lens without an aperture ring, you need an A or P series camera or one of the autofocus bodies that have aperture control built in. However, there are lots of great lenses out there for your K1000. Enjoy!

AFAIK, all K-mount lenses with aperture rings cover the 35mm format.

I hadn't thought about it, but I can't think of a lens, even by a third party, that doesn't follow that rule. Unfortunately, not all that do a pretty good job of covering 135 have aperture rings.

There is no hard and fast rule.

with a KX you need lenses that are in the pentax line up, prior to the FA-J series.

i.e. K, M, A, F, FA lenses will all work.

In sigma, all lenses without any suffiz, DG or DC will work. DC lenses MAY NOT work, depending on whether they have an aperture ring or not, and may also vignett even if they do work because they are designed for ASP-C sensors. DG lenses cover full frame, but I am not sure all, today have aperture rings.

In tamron Di lenses are full frame, Dii lenses are ASP-C. the only Tammy I have is the 28075 XR Di which has an aperture ring, and is full frame, therefore it will work.

One thing you may want, and htis is not ment to downgrade the K1000, is to look at a slightly newer body, either the program plus, or the A series, which will work with any lens, since it controls the aperture form the body. I keep my PZ-1 for this reason. except for HSM lenses it will shoot and focus anything made for pentax.

I've not seen a Sigma DC lens in PK with an aperture ring, so it would be a nonstarter for the K1000.

You can use any K-mount lens (and M42 lens with an adapter) as long as they have an aperture ring.
