Anyone tried this grip on an LX?

I was looking for a B grip for my LX but came across this on eBay:
[KIM] Best handmade Grip for Pentax LX (black) - eBay (item 320370975778 end time Apr-03-11 01:42:47 PDT)

Has anyone tried one of these? Thoughts?

Thanks,

Mark

I'd go for the one of the original grips.

Me too, especially since they sell for about half of what that one goes for.

Thanks guys. Having trouble finding a grip B, so I was looking for alternatives.

They come up regularly on e-bay, just have some patience.

There are several problems with that grip:
  • you cannot add the Motor Drive or Winder anymore
  • the tripod socket is off center with the grip
  • it's overengineered for the purpose.

One of the original Pentax grips is the better choice, as they use the studs on the camera and do not block the connectors on the camera bottom.

I seldom use a winder or tripod, but I like to use a grip whenever possible.
FWIW similar grips are quite popular with the rangefinder crowd.

I have the same brand grip for the Pentax MX. It makes handling a bit easier for my big hands.
The Winder MX has a grip (w/release), but IMO adds too much weight and bulk.

I'm also considering buying one to fit my LX. With a minor modification (i.e. some grinding/filing
of the metal on the back of the vertical portion) this one would allow use of both top neckstrap lugs,
something that is impossible using the Pentax LX Grip A or B.

Chris

Last time I checked ebay there was a Grip A for sale. I got one about six months ago and finally got around to carving it a few weeks ago. It's a pain to get it perfectly shaped, but once you do it is great, and much better than the grip B, in my opinion. The grip B isn't big enough for my hands, although it is much better than no grip, but the grip A is perfect(after about 3 days of whittling whenever I had the chance).
