Pentax Spotmatic with F1.4 50mm for $4.00

My girlfriend picked up a used black bodied Pentax Spotmatic SP (serial number 4314684)for at a thrift store for only $4.00. It is in great condition. This was about one year ago. It includes the the clip-on hotshoe flash mount. I took a roll of film to see what this old camera could do. The results came out very good.

The 50mm f1.4 lense is being used with her D-slr K-m now (I have used more then her!).

I had picked up an old Soligor 35mm f2.8 T2 M42 mount lense a while back and used it for the test roll of film. It was nice to have a solid camera like that in my hands again. Too bad the newer cameras lack this solid feel. In saying that, I do enjoy using my new K-m D-slr!!

I've seen a lot of cheap buys at the thrift store, but not quite that cheap.

My area doesn't have that much Thrift stores and the Pawnshops are just not that many too.
Maybe I should try to hit garage sales for these..but with my luck I guess it would be better for me to just buying them at fleabay or the marketplace than waste all that ever so expensive gas going around.

Here is an image taken with the old Pentax. Digital may rule most of the picture taking market but the magic of using film cameras still around. It is nice to not seeing how your picture comes out right away.

Nice, nice, I paid about €35 for the Spotmatic incl. a 1.8 50mm
And another €6 for the battery......darn. Will give the hole thing a try, once the battery arrives.

If you use a hand held light meter, you can use that as well. I just used my Gossin Lunasix-F light meter as a back-up for any of my cameras. It has a mode for reading light from a flash gun as well. If you happen to be working in condtions where light control are needed this comes in handy.

The other thing to do is look at the film instruction sheet. There should be some exposure guide lines that you can use for setting up the cameras aperture and shutter speed for the film speed being used. They work well most of the time.
