Jussi...you are cruel! That vendor has great goods. (Must resist urge to bid...not need Busch Bis-Telar...not need C3...not need Dine ring flash...not need Series 1 70-210...not need Crown Graphic...)

Steve

(...might need ring flash...)

heh heh heh heh heh... yeah he's got a good list going.
I'm glad someone somewhere put in a minimum bid for that camera, saving me from having to do so. I have to stay put with the two Konicas.

The thought of ending your misery crossed my mind, but I didn't.

Indeed, these small cameras produce far better results with faster film, e.g. ISO 400.
Save the slower stuff for your Pentax SLR.

Those goods he got are really good.
I also must resist the temptation.
In any case, I would bet a lot would bid on those and those items would need some work.
I'm now more leaning towards the Oly 35RC than anything else since I found links for teardowns (for DIY CLA) and lots of reviews.
I have seen the Canon G III-QL17 and I haven't read too much about it and I haven't seen any size comparison.
There was one mention that it was probably overrated and the Oly was actually better.

There seem to be a high demand for the Olympus 35RC since the bids just keep coming on them and price is getting pretty expensive.
There seems to be more Yashica Electro 35 GSN going around and since there are more listings for it, the prices haven't shot up.
I guess I just have to be patient as most of you have already mentioned.
Sooner or later, I will eventually get what I want.

Did Pentax make any?
In the 1976 price book (see other post in the film forum):

K1000 w/55mm SMCP f/2.0, microprism $299.50
K1000 w/55mm SMCP f/2.0, rangefinder $314.50

What does this mean? Was there a rangefinder mechanism in a Pentax camera.

The split image focusing aid on SLR focus screens was sometimes referred to as a "rangefinder".

Makes sense..and we can take the clue from the microprism too, meaning the focusing screens.

Two evenings ago, I took the recently-acquired replacement XA out for a test on familiar territory near my house (newly flowing irrigation). I think it will be a keeper. Film is LegacyPro 100 in Rodinal 1:50 10min.

Filters would be nice, but you can't have everything. This is more a Kodak Gold kind of body.

For black and white, with filters, that could be the way to go. I have also been known to hold a CPL in front of the lens of an XA.

All in all, the cost and convenience difference between the Rollei and the XA have kept me carrying the Olympus. I'll take out the MX when I want to get more precise.
