New MZ-S for sale on Amazon

Staff note: This post may contain affiliate links, which means Pentax Forums may earn a small commission if a visitor clicks through and makes a purchase. If you would like to support the forum directly, you may also make a donation here.

Hello,

Just thought I'd share for fellow film users that I found Idaho Camera (through Amazon) is selling a brand new MZ-S for $299. I had been looking into getting this camera for quite a while and at that price, I felt it was a pretty good deal and I thought I would let others know in case you were interested. However, there's only one left (now) so... have at it.

I'm not associated with Idaho Camera or Amazon. Just a Pentax film lover.

If it's ok to have a link, this is it:
Amazon.com: Pentax MZ-S Auto Focus SLR Body: Camera & Photo

Best to all,
- Jeff

For the record, it appears someone purchased the last remaining camera at that price (just so you don't think I'm crazy if you follow the link!)

Hope you enjoy!

That was a terrific deal. Too bad they sold out.

The idahocamera.com website still lists new (?) Pentax ZX-5n bodies priced at $199.95
I wonder how many of those they have left?

Chris

You'd do better in the "marketplace" section of the forum, with some photos of it. For price guidance, I see a completed listing on Ebay which fetched GBP 275 including international delivery for a nearly new and boxed model.

I'm sending one back to KEH on Monday. It's in very good shape, looks new to me. They had it rated EX+ and it was $399.

They currently list another EX+ in stock for $399, and an EX for a little less.
KEH rarely lists MZ-S bodies; it's hard to believe they had three (at minimum).
I wonder where they all came from?

BTW why are you returning yours?

I think the design and controls on the MZ-S are dreadful. I orderde it because of all the great things I hear about it, and I had high hopes. But for my personal style of shooting, it could not have been less appropriate. Obviously, it's a great piece of gear for some people, just not for me. More details in this thread:

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/8-film-slrs-compact-film-cameras/180497-what-does-mz-s-feel-like.html

I come from a heavy Nikon background, which has no doubt affected how I use a camera and what I expect it to do, and to feel like, so nothing against Pentax. I just hate the MZ-S. I've been shooting a borrowed LX for the last couple of days, and it is wonderful. I fell in love with the LX almost as fast as I hated the MZ-S. For an AF film body, for me personally, the PZ-1 beats the MZ-S handily.
