Can I add this to the "This is Nesster's fault"
If it weren't for him I wouldn't have even known what it was.

It's not fully operational (aperture isn't moving and RF needs adjusting) but shutter seems to work and there isn't a mark or scratch on it.
When I can afford to I will send it out for a CLA and hopefully it can be brought back to good working order.

If you want a blue one, why not talk to Camera Leather?

Cameraleather Yashica TLR page

The link is to the big brother but the 44 is on his list of supported cameras.

Blue would have been nice, but this one is gray like all the others. The blue one was at a local shop when I saw it. Pretty camera.

I suspect that the Yashica 44 will work well for the occasional street shot since it looks a little like a diecast toy and nobody will take me seriously. I am just afraid that at over $1.00 a shot with processing, I will be too cheap to really do any shooting!

Steve

(...am a little concerned about condition...hope the picture for the KEH listing was not the camera they are sending...picture was missing all the leatherette from the front...)

Talk to camera leather? Have you got a reply? I have an order in for a new skin for my Autocord, been waiting two months today, and no reply to emails...

LOL! Morgan can be quite slow at times but he does do good skins.

Most of these are from him with a couple from Aki.

The blue Yashica-44 are painted baby blue with gray leatherette. Blue leatherette with gray paint is not quite the same thing. Besides...My leatherette is in great shape! I will remember that they support the Y-44. I may upgrade to Griptac at some point to make the camera easier to handle with my big clumsy hands.

Excellent idea! We can have an ongoing thread of camera purchases that we would like to blame on others! I can honestly say that I would not own the following cameras/lenses except for posts here and elsewhere:
  • Pentax KX
  • Pentax Super Program
  • Chamonix 045N-2 (I blame Tuco and his Wista for this one)
  • LZOS MC Jupiter-9 85/2
  • KMZ Helios 44-M 58/2
  • Vivitar 28/2.8
And of course...
  • Yashica-44
My growing collection of rangefinders and other lenses is entirely my own fault.

I've literally spent hours on Nesster's flickr. His "Camera Fetishism" set is amazing.

Well, thank you for that... but I consider myself a beginner, a dilettante, a light weight, when I compare myself to some of my buddies over on flickr...

And there are plenty of gear head pools over there...

I tell myself that at least I use every working camera I have on a regular basis

It is difficult to provide a sense of scale in photos to show just how small the Y-44 is compared to a standard 120 TLR. You will just have to take my word for it that it is tiny and cute as a bug. Click through for notes and more details about the camera. Both shots with my K10D and FA 35/2.

BTW...It came with a gray leather case, also in incredibly good condition and the original hinged metal Bay-1 lens cap. Very cool!

Yes, she is pretty, but I have yet to get any usable photos. The first roll was a waste due to issues while loading. (Memo to self...do not almost drop film after tape has been ripped...) I will likely finish a second roll today, though I am still not sure about how to do the scanning. I am thinking that a homemade insert for the 120 adapter on the V700 might work.

My KX and Sears-badged Ricoh XR7 were definitely Steve’s fault!
