smcP-DA* 50-135 f/2.8 ED(IF)SDM ?

Hi gang,
I was going to go the Tamron route (up to 200mm) for a high speed lens to help me out in sports photography with less than ideal lighting. I am now considering the Pentax smcP-DA* 50-135 f/2.8 ED(IF)SDM instead.

Anyone own one?

Any comments are appreciated. Even from Iran!

Much discussed lately. Got one. Love it! Fast becoming my favorite lens. Used it at a league tennis match the other week, and it performed as well as I could have hoped for. A little short, so only good for sports where you are closer to the action. Should be okay for volleyball, wrestling, basketball (in the near court), and other gym sports where you can get pretty close to the sideline. Probably not good for gymnastics. Again, doesn't have the reach.

Hallo

I also just got one! I mean just ordered and waiting for the arrival. I have sigma 100-300mm that I love. I shoot some sports (surfing) but mainly my subjects are event, park (zoo) and city scene, and found 200-300mm range is little too tough to capture the target in right focus, 50-135mm range would be perfect, that I feel. Also, sigma 100-300mm, clear but I want richer color, so I decided to get DA*.

Can't wait to have it!

Since this was in the Film SLR forum, even by mistake, there is something I have been wondering> has anyone tried to mount this lens on a Film SLR to check the vignetting?

Lucky us-I had been watching reviews and owner comments for a while, and decided to bite the bullet and get one! I am VERY happy with this. I wanted a SHARP lens for wedding (amatuer) shots
after being bitten once by an inferior lens. Now I feel the confidence!
Happy shooting

I've mounted it on some film cameras, and the viewfinder shows a little vignetting at 50mm, a lot if the hood is on... but, I've done a shoot with it, and when the photos come back I'll get a better idea.
