You can use a pencil rubber to polish up the chrome, pencil with one of those small rubber on the nice.

There is stuff called DeoxIT made by a company called Caig Laboratories. You put some on a Q-tip spread it on the camera chrome top, let it sit for 5 mins. and then wipe it off. It does a wonderful job of removing corrosion and making the chrome look new or at least newer. It is sold at many electronics supply stores or Sadly it is not cheap.

It should not hurt the enamel, but I would be hesitant on the lens. Much depends on the concentration.
