My new old Asahi Pentax KX...

Hello everyone, I'm new to these forums and wanted to share
the news of my new purchase today.

I got myself an old 1975 Asahi Pentax KX Black Body and it comes
with a SMC Pentax-M f1.4 50mm lens and a Optex 52mm A1 Filter

Got it dirt cheap too, only $50 Dollars.

Picture taken with my DSLR Pentax K-x (2011) purchased 3 weeks ago

It's fully functional, it's just the body paint that is scratched some.

I purchased it for the lens and was going to sell the body but I decided
to stick with it.

P.S. I'm a beginner/amateur (a pro in the making )

Welcome to the forum! Great camera and lens combo, I have owned a KX since 1975 and it's still working great!

If your KX needs a CLA, Eric is your man.

+1 on both the welcome and the assessment of the KX. You got a great deal! Be sure at some point to check both the mirror bumper and light seals for degradation. These are easy to replace and well-worth doing if needed.

Nice camera. I recently sold my black one but have kept both chrome bodies. The manual is here if you need it Pentax Manuals

My first Pentax was one of the KX bodies and my wife bought it for me as an engagement present back in 76!

What a coincidence! I recently bought a black KX. (Which I absolutely love by the way. Couldn't be happier with this camera.)

Oh since I'm quite new to the generals of photography, is there a brand/type
of film that is popular amongst photographers as far as quality/results?

Or does any film rolls out there do the trick?

That is quite a question with many people having their favourite etc!!

Try looking in this forum. There are all sorts of threads on different films etc.

Welcome aboard! I have a silver KX that's my favorite Pentax of them all.

You can browse through this thread
https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-film-slr-discussion/53503-cool-let...ilm-shots.html
Most people remember to put in what film they used, it's a good thread to see what's what.

I find many different films have their strong points, including private label super market / drug store film. It all depends on what you end up liking - and there's no law that says you need to prefer the higher priced films either

The KX was my first Pentax. I have owned and used a dozen other Pentax models
(including the LX) since, but the KX remains my favorite. Enjoy yours!

Ektar 100 for color negative

Fuji Neopan Acros 100 for black & white
Both are pretty much guaranteed to put a smile on the face.
