This is great. I just noticed that my that my early Honeywell has a machined "cup" not plastic. Anyway, my later copy has the plastic cup. it looks like a 357 would fit as well. Gotta find a plate to hack.

Yes there seems to be a lot of variation in details over the years the Spotmatics were produced... and e.g. the controversy of whether or not battery voltage matters depends on one's experience with specific cameras, how picky one is, and over what range of lighting.

Here's a long thread explaining the Spotmatic meter and how to modify it if you need to do so:

I've read that the very earliest Spotties may have had a fully balanced meter: the needle stays in the middle with the meter off. Pentax may have changed that to one with a small current required to center the needle so that people wouldn't think they were metering correctly while the meter was in fact turned off.

Mine works fine with a 357 battery; the one in that example is upside-down though
