I too think it looks like a developing problem.

This is an old favourite from 1985. MX, M 135/3.5 with yellow filter, Plus-X. I still have the body and lens, well-used but in excellent working order.

Nice one, John. That's an interesting file name (jpg.gif). It's been a long time since I've seen someone use a GIF file for their pictures too.

Just thought I'd make sure people are on their toes. Nice to know I can still find new ways to screw up In my old age!

Hi Tuco and Nesster, its not a developing problem. I've currently got five film bodies and its only with the Kiev that the problem arises and the banding is always on the same part of every frame.

I think I remember your post on RFF. The banding you are seeing is indeed bothersome considering that the Kiev has a vertical travel shutter. Anything hanging from the edge of the trailing (top) curtain by any chance?

Steve
The only thing that may protrude is the shutter latch which is in the centre of the top edge of the lower curtain. Its hard to measure but if it is protruding, its only by one or two thousands of an inch and only centre frame.

I was thinking some sort of debris or shreds of shutter ribbon hanging from the upper (trailing) curtain. Alternatively, perhaps one side of the leading curtain is dragging on one side toward the end of its travel? The curtain speed for the Kiev is sufficiently slow that it should be possible to visually check for smooth motion.

Thanks, this looks like it will be a fun camera/format to play with! Nice lighting with your shot, I’ll make sure to try my Spotmeter in place of the TTL. The TTL seems to be similar to the meter in the KM/K1000, I’m more used to the centre-weighted meter like in the KX/K2.
